AS2: Task 5: Creating a Music Video

Music Video Production

By the 6th of January, we had all the footage we needed to start making our music video. We all took some time to think up some ideas of how we we're going to put our music video together.

Our videos slowly started to slowly take shape, with everything we'd learnt previously in mind, we knew to cut to the beat, and that the faster parts of the song were going to have faster editing sequences.

By the time the finished project had been uploaded, we'd put well over a day into the project as a whole, this includes travelling, filming and editing of the footage.

Personally, I am very proud of how the finished video has come out, as I feel like I've put the most effort into this video, and it's editing process, and I think that all the time that was put into filming and making the video, definitely paid off in the end.

AS2: Task 4: Pre-Production Planning

 Proposal

  • Our plan is to use a song from an independent artist, as to avoid any complications with major labels.
  • Due to the genre of the song, our music video is going to be very fast paced.
  • As the song has piratical and nautical themes, we intend for our video to have the same/similar themes, to match the style of the song.

Potential problems and how to overcome these problems:
  • Beach Scenes
  • "Rain" if it rained we already had another day planned for shooting the pirate, and battle scenes.
  • "Slipping" the boat we filmed on for parts of the video was very slippery, and to make sure we didn't fall over, or off the boat, we walked slowly around the boat. As well as on the rocks during the scenes for the guitar solo.
  • "General Public" if the public were to interfere with our filming, then a back up location had been planned for in advance.

  • Band Scenes
  • "Absence" if any member of the group couldn't make it to the original filming of the band scenes, then it would've been postponed to a later date.
  • "Damaged Instruments" as the instruments weren't ours, but property of the school, we had to be careful with them, which meant being careful when walking around as to not trip on any wires, and not drop, or throw anything.
